So I went to pick up my package from FedEx. It didn't take too long. And honestly, it was worth waiting an extra couple of days because the guy who dropped my package on the counter and took my signature was unbelievably hot! I so kept my composure though. You know, because I'm stupid and think that now showing my interest in a person is the RIGHT thing to do. Ah well. Very excited when I opened my package in my car (still parked in the lot) and found that the makeup was all intact. As I drove away from the pick-up center, I realized that I was kinda close to my old house. Well, I was on the right avenue. I decided to visit my old house and school.
I've done this before, but I had never gotten out of the car. It was always a drive-by. I parked the car across from my house and went up just to the short little wall we had put up a year or so before we moved. I smiled when I saw the smashed in corner where the mailbox was. Tricia ran into it with The Boat just after she learned to drive. I saw the tree I used to climb next door. It was the best climbing tree even though it wasn't very tall. I also remembered the spot where I accidentally ran my bike into the man across the street's yard and he came a-hollering at me the moment I did. I had only just learned to ride (Suzanne taught me I think... or Evelyn...). Next door to us, there was a backyard some neighbor kids and I used to sneak into because nobody lived there. We attempted to make a club house in their rotten old tree back there using some broken pieces of a wooden fence and the rusty bent up nails that were sometimes poking out of them. We used rocks to hammer them into the bark. I walked down the street, which felt odd because I suddenly felt very tall. Over the last seven years, when I would visualize that street, I undoubtedly took the point of view that I had back then, which was oh, 5'4"? Maybe even less! And of course, I walked over to where I was bit by that pit bull. Also, I checked out the house that I ran into afterward, Suzanne's house. It looks the same mostly. I have no idea if that family still lives there or not.
Next, I got back in my car, and drove on over to my old elementary school. The gates were chained up, and I didn't much feel like hopping the fence. I'm chicken shit like that. I think I might go back when school's back in session so that I might slip in there and check out some of my old tromping ground. Then I can reminisce about when Bradley punched me in the stomach, where Hector almost choked Megan, but I, being the bad-ass I was in 4th grade, saved her life, and also the sand pit where the infamous ripping of the shorts took place that fine chilly morning.
Well, it's off to bed for me. Tomorrow, Ashley and Bethany are supposed to come over. That is, if they still are able to and if Carole doesn't find out. Last time she found out that I had invited Ashley over, she flipped a biscuit and told me absolutely not. Well, we have a nice house, which I recently cleaned myself thank you very much, and my friends have hardly ever been over these past 3 or 4 years. She needs to back the fuck off. Anyway, that's definitely all for now. Wish me luck in my endeavors tomorrow!
